Louis takes on Back yard ultra challenge!

What’s a back yard ultra ?

Every hour on the hour you have to run 4.1 miles (6.7km)

Once have run the distance you rest then when the clock hits o’clock you run again, and again and again.

Until you decide you can’t run anymore, or you don’t make it back in time.

After 8 weeks of specific training, with many, many long runs companied with strength training Louis lines up on start line with 80 others.

10am lap one they get going

The laps start getting ticked off 123456 we are at a marathon.

People are dropping out, it’s getting to the evening and now it’s getting serious.

Louis had two friends with him, the last one drops out at, 8 laps.

He says this is when it got really Hard, head torch on and just drudging round the course.

The 100k goal is what keeps him going, but he had an open mind to carry on if it felt right.

Its 12 at night the first lap was at 10 am 14 laps 94km 57 miles, Louis now knows it’s the next lap that will get him to 100km and he says to the tea, pack away the stuff this is the last lap I’m finished after this.

The sense of achievement reaching 100km the original goal outweighed carrying on.

He went out on his final lap and came back celebrating his achievement across the finish line!

Finishing 8th overall

100KM 15 loops
