Future Regeneration: Clapham Manor Primary School

Project Location: Clapham Manor Primary School
Project Scope: Refurbishment of 4 school toilets and 1 wheelchair-accessible WC

Assessment

The project at Clapham Manor Primary School required a full refurbishment of the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 boys’ and girls’ toilets, as well as a wheelchair-accessible WC. This 6-week project aimed to revitalise the facilities in time for the school’s reopening after the summer break.

During the initial consultation, the school’s leadership team shared their vision for modern, efficient, and durable toilet facilities to better serve the students. We were selected through a competitive tender process to deliver this transformation, following a detailed scope of works prepared by the surveyor.

After careful assessment, it was clear that work could begin immediately, with tight deadlines in place to complete the project before the school reopened.

Solution

Clear communication was crucial to ensure all parties were aligned, Once all administrative tasks, including site-specific risk assessments, method statements, and a well-structured project timeline, were completed, we began the strip-out phase. This involved the complete removal of all fixtures and fittings from the boys’ and girls’ toilets and the wheelchair-accessible WC. By stripping everything down to the bare walls, we were able to start fresh with a blank canvas.

The first fix involved constructing stud walls for improved layout, levelling the floors for the installation of new flooring, and replacing the door frames. Additionally, we renewed the soil stack and carried out plastering work to ensure a smooth foundation for the next stages.

In the second fix, we installed all new sanitary ware, including the Venesta cubicle systems, which are known for their durability and modern aesthetic alongside  of a sleek quartz basin with a tiled splashback and a long mirror to complete the look. The installation of durable polysafe vinyl flooring ensured that the toilets would be both slip-resistant and easy to clean.decorated, and finished with waterproof sealant to protect against moisture damage and ensure longevity.

Challenges

Meeting the deadline was the toughest part of the project. With the school scheduled to reopen for the new term, there was no flexibility in the timeline. To stay on track, we extended working hours, ensuring that the project was completed on time without compromising on quality.

Coordinating the first and second fix to fit within this timeframe required precise planning, but thanks to our team’s dedication and expertise, we successfully met the deadline.

Conclusion

The refurbishment of Clapham Manor Primary School’s toilets was completed within the tight schedule, just in time for the school’s reopening. The new facilities provide a clean, modern, and functional space for the students and staff, greatly improving upon the outdated design.

The school staff provided positive feedback, particularly impressed by the transformation and attention to detail. This success has already sparked discussions about renovating more toilets on the site, and we are currently working on plans to make this happen.

This project demonstrates our ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines, reinforcing our commitment to client satisfaction and meticulous execution.
