Project Overview
Located in the heart of Chelsea, Ashburnham Mansions is a prestigious and highly regarded redbrick mansion block situated close to King’s Road, Lots Road, Chelsea Harbour, and Cheyne Walk. The property required the replacement of a failed CCTV recording system following a number of recent security concerns affecting the site.
Future Group was commissioned to assess the existing infrastructure, provide a full system survey, and deliver a practical upgrade solution within the client’s available budget. Detailed system specifications and design drawings were prepared to support the client’s decision-making process and future planning.
Due to budget constraints, a complete replacement of the legacy CCTV cameras was not initially feasible. However, once works commenced, further issues were identified within the ageing camera network and associated cabling infrastructure, requiring additional remedial works to restore full system functionality and image quality.
The Challenge
The original scope involved a straightforward replacement of the CCTV recording equipment and integration with the site router to enable secure remote access and monitoring capabilities.
Following installation of the new recorder, it quickly became apparent that several existing cameras were failing to display correctly due to faults within the legacy wiring and ageing camera hardware. Comprehensive testing revealed multiple issues affecting system performance and reliability.
Key challenges included:
- Failure of several existing cameras due to deteriorated system wiring
- Poor image quality caused by ageing infrastructure and outdated equipment
- Requirement to maintain effective coverage across key parking and rear access areas
- Delivering a cost-effective solution while maximising use of the existing system where possible
- Minimising disruption to residents throughout the upgrade process
The Solution
Future Group carried out extensive fault-finding and remedial works across the CCTV network to restore system performance and reliability.
Works included:
- Replacement of the failed CCTV recording equipment
- Configuration of remote access for secure off-site monitoring and image retrieval
- Testing and diagnosis of existing camera and cable infrastructure
- Rewiring and replacement of multiple cameras throughout the building
- Optimisation of camera positioning to improve coverage of parking and rear access areas
- System commissioning and performance testing to ensure operational reliability
By carefully balancing upgrades with the retention of viable existing equipment, Future Group delivered a practical and budget-conscious solution that significantly improved site security and surveillance capability.
The Results
The completed upgrade provided Ashburnham Mansions with a far more reliable and effective CCTV system, delivering clear visibility across all critical areas of the property.
Project outcomes included:
- Crystal-clear CCTV imagery across the site
- Improved coverage of parking and rear access areas
- Reliable remote monitoring and image retrieval functionality
- Increased operational reliability of the CCTV infrastructure
- Enhanced security reassurance for residents and property management teams
The project successfully transformed an unreliable legacy system into a dependable modern surveillance solution while remaining aligned with the client’s operational and financial requirements.
