Project: Egerton Place – Four Residential Blocks
Service: Solar PV Condition Surveys & Remedial Works
Division: Future Decarbonise
The Project
Future Decarbonise was appointed to assess the condition of the existing Solar PV installations across four residential blocks at Egerton Place.
The property management team required a clearer understanding of the systems installed across the development, their current condition and whether any remedial works were necessary to address safety and compliance requirements.
Our role was to inspect the existing installations, identify any deficiencies and provide a clear programme of recommended improvements.
The Challenge
Our inspections identified several deficiencies relating to electrical safety, equipment identification and emergency isolation procedures.
These included missing inverter location signage, solar emergency isolation notices, dual supply warnings, DC labelling and emergency lockout procedures, alongside missing three-phase surge protection devices (SPDs).
While some of these issues may appear relatively minor, they play an important role in the safe operation and maintenance of Solar PV installations.
Correct signage and labelling allow engineers and emergency responders to identify electrical hazards and safely isolate equipment, while surge protection helps safeguard electrical components against transient overvoltage’s.
Addressing these deficiencies was essential to improving the safety and compliance of the existing systems.
The Solution
Future Decarbonise carried out detailed condition surveys across all four residential blocks, inspecting the Solar PV arrays, inverters and associated electrical equipment.
The inspections allowed us to establish a comprehensive overview of the installations, documenting equipment specifications, locations and any identified defects.
Following the surveys, we provided the property management team with a detailed report outlining our findings and recommended remedial actions.
Once approved, our team completed the necessary works, installing the missing safety signage, DC labelling and three-phase surge protection devices, addressing the deficiencies identified during the initial inspections.
Inspect. Identify. Improve.
Rather than replacing existing Solar PV infrastructure, our approach focused on understanding the condition of the installations and making targeted improvements where required.
By managing the process from initial inspection through to completed remedial works, Future Decarbonise provided the client with a coordinated solution to improving the development’s Solar PV safety and compliance.
The Result
Egerton Place now benefits from four Solar PV installations with the identified safety and compliance deficiencies addressed, providing a safer and better-documented electrical infrastructure.
The property management team also has a much clearer understanding of the systems across the development, with documented information covering solar panel quantities and models, inverter specifications, equipment locations and future maintenance requirements.
This provides a reliable foundation for ongoing servicing and asset management, helping ensure the installations can continue to be maintained safely and effectively.
The project demonstrates how proactive inspections and targeted remedial works can improve electrical safety, address compliance concerns and give property managers greater confidence in the renewable energy assets under their management.
