Future Fuel: Queensmead

EV Charging Solution at Queensmead, St John’s Wood

Location: Queensmead, St John’s Wood, London NW8

System Type: Retrofit – 6-Bay Shared Use Charging Station (7-22kW) with Smart Active Connection

Property Type: Residential Block

Property Overview:

The Queenmead Estate is a luxury residential development in the leafy district of St John’s Wood, London. It is home to a variety of high-end houses and apartments.

Management Company: Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward

Instructing Party: Andrew Farley – Estate Manager

Project Overview:

Following in-depth consultations with the management company, it was agreed that the EV charging station would be placed in the perimeter parking zone adjacent to private garages, using visitor parking bays. The “charge and move” system ensures efficient use of these shared charging points, giving residents easy access.

Energy Supply Challenges:

Energy analysis revealed an insufficient electrical supply, necessitating collaboration with UK Power Networks (UKPN) to install a dedicated metered power source for the EV charging points.

Civil Works:

Given the aesthetic value of the estate, civil works required strategic planning to avoid negatively impacting the appearance of the development. The charging stations were mounted on the perimeter walls to seamlessly blend into the surroundings. A new GRP electrical cabinet housing the meter and distribution equipment was discreetly installed in a soft landscaped area, keeping it hidden from residential views to preserve the aesthetic harmony of the estate.

System Integration:

The charging system is now fully operational, integrated with the Future-Tap billing platform. This provides residents with a user-friendly way to access and manage their EV charging needs.
