Due to its age and Grade II listed status, consideration of the building’s heritage elements was required when upgrading the existing fire detection and fire alarm system. A wireless system was the only option on this project, due to exposure to almost all the original features such as plaster cornice and wooden wall panelling, along with asbestos floor tiles throughout, some hidden underneath carpet.

The current system had become obsolete and non-compliant. Therefore an upgrade was required to protect this Grade II listed building, achieving current BS EN Standards. The installation, designed to an L1 category, comprised of a fire detection and fire alarm system including visual indicators throughout.
Wireless
Reasoning for wireless use:
Bretons Manor House was built in 1742. The existing system was no longer fit for purpose. A 16th century Noble Barn outbuilding also required protection, linked wirelessly to the Manor House. Caballing and ‘on show’ containment was not an option, due to exposed original features such as plaster cornice and wooden wall panelling, along with reported asbestos throughout.
